Updated: Oct 6, 2020

Intro

Interest: The Beatles are the type of band that you just know. Whether it is because your family listens to them, you hear them on the radio, or in the background of a store, It seems to be everyone knows of them. Why is this? Why are they so special? This is why I wanted to dive deeper into their music, to see for myself what makes them so famous.

Pual McCartney:

Paul McCartney is now 78 years old. he was born in Liverpool Engalnd and joined the band when he was around 15. Pual McCartney was part of the bealtles band. The Beatles were an English rock band formed in Liverpool, in 1960. During his time with the beatles Paul wrote 70 songs on his on. When the beatles broke up in 1970, he was the first to amke a solo album and also formed a band of his and his late wife, Wings. Pual McCartney became the most succesful songwriter in the history of the United Kingdom. He has many rewards one being knighted by the queen of england. He has also recieved loads of highly honorable music awards such as, in the 90's Pual inducted in the rock and roll hall of fame as a solo artist. Paul in his 70's is still attention grabbing . He headlined coachella in 2009 which proves that he is still hip and didn't get stuck in the 90's. It hard to sum up this trully iconic artist, because of his jam packed life and that just shows how remarkable he is.

Song introduction:

Black bird by Paul McCartney, is a very moving song. Balckbird is part if The White Album(the Beatles). In this song they talk about the racial tensions in 1968. The song came out in 1968 and was written by Pual Mccartney, except for one line by John Lennon. Here are the lyrics to the song...

Blackbird singing in the dead of night

Take these broken wings and learn to fly All your life You were only waiting for this moment to arise Blackbird singing in the dead of night Take these sunken eyes and learn to see All your life You were only waiting for this moment to be free Blackbird fly, blackbird fly Into the light of a dark black night Blackbird fly, blackbird fly Into the light of a dark black night Blackbird singing in the dead of night Take these broken wings and learn to fly All your life You were only waiting for this moment to arise You were only waiting for this moment to arise You were only waiting for this moment to arise

Song Analysis

Pual says he was inspired to write this song while reading a newspaper about the U.S race riots in 1968. This song was in support of the Civil Rights Movement. When he refers to 'blackbird' he mens black girl because bird is one way the british called girls. When Paul says "you were only waiting for this moment to arise", to me that's indicating that now is your time to be free and soar with the rest of us. I find it very powerful that he wrote this song because with his status it probably helped the Civil Rights Movemnt be heard and shine a bigger light to his fans that maybe weren't totally enlighted on what was going on. His lyrics in the song are very catchy and simple, which in my opinion makes them stick in your brain were you will be constatly be hummimg it or singing througout your day. The song has three sounds. In the opening of the song it's very calming with the guitar playing and the constant tapping in the song, and then mixed into the song ther is a peaceful sound of a male blackbird. These three sounds plus McCartneys solo voice preformance will being you at ease. This song is the one thing that will calm me and bring me to this mental state where I almost stop thinking and puts me a reflective mindset.

This gallery is what I think of when I listen to his song.

Conclusion

This songs is one of the many reasons I love music. I love how it relaxes me and makes me happy. I have realized that Paul's music is able to touch many different types of people in different ways weather his music calms you, excites you, or with especially this song make you feel like you have someone that stands with you;the music also comforts you. I admire that he uses his talent, to back up racial injustices. In all I think Paul is so loved because he reaches so many people kind of that saying theres something for everyone. With his humble and witty personality it hard not to like him!
